The National Policy on Natural Gas (NPNG) has been published in the Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The newly formulated National Policy on Natural Gas has been published in the Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, dated 17th October 2020.
The Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat (PRDS) provided significant assistance to the Ministry of Energy to formulate this ambitious policy designed to establish an economically viable, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible natural gas industry in Sri Lanka. It was built on five key principles: ensuring energy security; minimization of environmental, health and safety risks; optimal use of indigenous natural gas; enhanced private sector participation, adaptive development and optimization of market structure for inclusive benefits.
